South Africa’s unemployment crisis is deep and structural … but not immovable. The 10KJ Initiative, launched by Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropy South Africa, set out to address this challenge with an ambitious goal: support ten partner organisations to generate 10,000 income-earning opportunities.
More than a target, this was a test of what’s possible when ecosystem players are trusted, supported, and given the freedom to adapt solutions to context. Through peer learning, adaptive collaboration, and a commitment to accountability, the initiative ultimately doubled its goal, creating over 20,000 income-generating opportunities for nearly 19,700 people.
❝ The 10KJ Initiative is not just a celebration of achievements—it’s a testament to the transformative power of collaborating, sharing, and learning from experience. ❞
— Zimkhitha Peter, CEO, AGGP SA
